An IT security incident is a crisis in which the classical protection objectives of information security are threatened. The reputational damage that a successful hacker attack can cause to affected companies and organizations can be accordingly high. With a successful crisis communication, a reputational loss can be prevented and the trust given by customers and employees maintained. In the workshop, the success factors of a successful crisis communication will be discussed and templates for press releases and stakeholder as well as employee communication developed.

Procedure

The training “Crisis communication of IT security incidents” is carried out via the video conferencing system Zoom. The participants receive a link in advance and can participate in the training using a current browser. Alternatively, access is possible via the Zoom client on the computer or the smart device. A dial-in by telephone is possible as well, also as an addition in order to process the audio connection separately. After completion of the workshop, the participants receive the slides with the worked out content.
